WORKPLACE DSE ASSESSMENTS

Display Screen Equipment (DSE) is a device or equipment that has an alphanumeric or graphic display screen, regardless of the display process involved; it includes both conventional display screens and those used in laptops, touch-screens and other similar devices.

Computer workstations or equipment can be associated with neck, shoulder, back or arm pain, as well as with fatigue and eyestrain.

Coast Risk Management can help you by providing a qualified safety practitioner to carry out DSE risk assessments for you and to help you in your workplace by being compliant with the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992.

We can also offer training which will include:

  • the risks from DSE work and the controls you have put in place;
  • how to adjust furniture;
  • how to organise the workplace to avoid awkward or frequently repeated;
  • stretching movements;
  • how to clean the screen and mouse;

  • who to contact for help and to report problems or symptoms;
  • how to review user assessments or checklists to identify any additional controls;
  • how to tackle problems the user is unable to solve;
  • deciding when additional information and help is needed, and where to go for it;
  • how to record significant findings.
